St Mary’s County, MD. Partner with the County Commissioners to design a program and funding solicitation for a two million dollar effort to analyze the environmental carrying capacity of this peninsula on the Chesapeake Bay. This research will be translated into new land use patterns for the various communities. New zoning principles and building codes are anticipated to result from this effort as well as indicators (metrics and benchmarks) for self-assessment in the future. 1999-2005
Sunnyslope Hamlet, Purcellville, VA. A 95-acre site originally zoned for 25 homes with three acres of land per home was redesigned as a hamlet of 30 homes covering a total of 20 acres. Green building design with New Urbanist street density, land restoration, land conservation, and an organic farm were integrated in this community.
